Author Bio

I was born in Sydney in 1958, one of eight children. My dad was a veteran of WW2 and during the 1950s and 60s he made up the Pea and Bean characters and told us some bedtime stories.

I grew up the the seaside suburb of Clovelly in Sydney and was educated in the Catholic school system, first by the nuns at St Anthony’s in Clovelly in the 60s, then the Marist Brothers in Coogee and Randwick during the 70s.

My childhood memories are of roaming free in the area looking for adventures with my bro and friends, lots of time was spent at the beach and naturally I took up surfing.

When school was finished I studied to be a Primary School teacher and moved to Queensland to start my teaching career in Gympie at St Pats. My teaching career spanned the next forty years and included both Primary and High school as well as a year teaching English in Japan. I eventually finished my career in Maryborough in June 2020, where I had taught Japanese at Riverside Christian College.

Storyetlling was always a part of my teaching and most children tell me they remember the stories not my teaching, haha.

I’m now retired from teaching to devote my time to my writing career full time.

I first wrote three Pea and Bean stories (Rexcellent, Little Lunch and Turbo Mad) which were self published during a break from teaching in the 90s. Then followed a long break where I only did storytelling but no writing but in 2020, my writing career kick started again and I released the long awaited Frozen Vegies and wrote Something Purple too. During self isolation in the Coronavrius pandemic I wrote a completely new story, Qui Magi.Alchemy, the first in a new young adult series. This story came out of nowhere it seems.. A random idea as I was waking up one morning evolved into a book and a series. I wrote it in an almost obsessive way over just five weeks. At present, book Two is about to commence.
